Staffing update
Noah Comstock (HXMS building sub) will be moving on to work at WGHS as a long term sub for a Social Studies class. We are sad to lose Noah, but happy for his new opportunity!
We hired Constance West as our new counselor to replace Ms. Erica Blanks. She was approved by the BOE last night. Please read the following message from Contance!
My name is Constance (Connie) West aka "Sunflower Counselor"! I am beyond excited to join the Hixson Middle School family. I have been a Middle School Counselor for 8 years and have a true passion for helping students find and feel passionate about who they are as individuals! I was one who struggled with feeling confident and secure during the Middle school years and have made it my goal to be someone who I felt I needed when I was struggling during Middle School.
I am a wife and have been married for 10 years and a mother to a 5 year old son who is my pride and joy. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a private practice in the St. Charles area. I love to sing and dance which I'm sure you will hear and see alot. I am also a very creative person and looking to publish my first children's book. l enjoy crafting and making t shirts for fun. I love to smile and help others smile as well! I consider myself a human Sunflower as Sunflowers are believed to gather their energy from the sun and share energy with others who may be lacking.
Again, I am so excited to become a part of the Hixson family and look forward to meeting everyone!

Personal Days
Two important reminders regarding personal days.
- Please be sure to submit your personal days two weeks in advance unless there is an extenuating circumstance. This requirement is in pursuant with BOE policy.
- I recommend you get your personal day approved before you finalize your plans.
Rock n' Roll Bingo
Love to get together with your friends but Trivia Nights are not your thing? Have we got an option for you!
Join the Hixson Middle School Staff for a night of musical FUN! Rock & Roll Bingo is 10 rounds of bingo, but with music clips! Don't worry if you are not a walking jukebox...you can use your Shazam app on your phone to help identify songs.
Here’s how it works: Instead of your boring old numbers being called out in a normal game of bingo, they have been replaced with 15-20 seconds bursts of the most toe-tappin’, singing along to songs from the past and present!
As a result the numbers on the bingo cards have also been replaced with artists and/or song names! Your bingo card is provided and so is your pen! Listen out for the songs being played and mark them off as you would a normal game of bingo. The first player to call BINGO will win a mystery gift valued at $50!
Want to help out but can't make the event? Consider sponsoring a prize round with a gift certificate of your choice!
This is an adults only event, outside food and drink are welcome. Tables of 8 adults at $25 per person/$200 a table. Venmo @Hixson-Courtesy or send a check to Hixson in care of Gail Tumminello, R & R Bingo. If you are using Venmo please register your entire table at one time under a table captain's name and write R & R Bingo in the memo!
A full set of traditional braces from Azar Ortho in Webster will be auctioned off during the evening as well as some other Hixson specific perks!

Book Fair information from Mrs. Tumminello
A few things about book fair next week:
1. Students will be looking for 4-leaf clovers in the hallways after 1st hour. If they fight over the clovers or if the clovers are ripped or torn they lose all their luck and students won't be able to trade them in for a prize during statesmen time. Each day 5 to 10 clovers will be placed in the halls. Clovers will only be placed in public areas NOT classrooms.
2. All students will come to the bookfair through their team classes. Please do not send them down on pass until next Thursday. (ELA teachers if students forgot their money and need to come down after your team comes to the fair please send them only 1 or 2 at a time.)
3. Teacher preview is today! Please stop by and make a wish list to send home to parents.
4. Scholastic is giving each teacher a $5.00 coupon good on any order over $20.00.
5. We don't have a good track record with reorders right now so if you see something you really want to purchase I would not wait ...I may not be able to get you another copy.
Thank you so much for being supportive of our book fair!
