Trauma Informed Educators Network Podcast
Recently I discovered a new podcast that has helped me deepen my understanding of trauma informed care. It is called the Trauma Informed Educators Network Podcast. They have a Facebook group as well. Click on the link above to check out the podcast. So far, I have listed to episodes 31-34 and they are all very informative!

Paper Tigers
Have you ever seen Paper Tigers? It is a documentary that tells the story of
Lincoln Alternative High School in the rural community of Walla Walla, Washington. Paper Tigers asks the following questions: What does it mean to be a trauma-informed school? And how do you educate teens whose childhood experiences have left them with a brain and body ill-suited to learn? If you can find time to watch it, I highly recommend you watch it since our school is working with Alive and Well to become trauma informed. It is available for free on Amazon Prime Video.

DOMAIN 3: HIXSON & STEGER

Feb 2 TTF meeting
Rebranding & Campus Beautification - A total of 27 submissions for logo designs were submitted to this work group by Hixson and Steger students and staff. On Tuesday, the team worked together to select four designs to move forward for a vote from current Hixson students and staff, current Steger students and staff, and current 5th graders. The voting process will launch next week!

Building Management Work Group
Do you think you would enjoy helping create the building map for next school year, which includes determining room assignments? If you are interested, please email Dr. Mayes. The Hixson admin team is trying to see if there is interest in participating in this work. If so, we will form a work group after course requests are due, and we will work on creating the building map together.

DOMAIN 4: HIXSON & CONSTRUCTION

Drywall!
Here are just a few pictures from the inside of the new academic wing. The construction project is continuing to move along quite nicely, and they are starting to hang drywall!
