HXMS & WGHS presents: PLC Mini-Conference, November 8, 2022
Hixson and WGHS will have a full, no student day set aside for professional development on November 8, 2022. Since we share seven CLTs with WGHS, we will collaborate with them to plan a PLC mini-conference to be held at Hixson Middle School. Multiple sessions will be offered throughout the day for you and your CLT to attend. You will deepen your understanding of how PLC work helps us become even better practitioners and helps us provide an equitable education for ALL students. If you are interested in presenting at this mini conference, please review the list of possible topics below to get an idea of what we are looking to offer during the conference.

Conference Theme: Achieving Equity through Effective Professional Learning Communities
  • Priority Standards (What are they and how do we choose them?)
  • Common formative and summative assessments (creating quality assessments)
  • Creating common scoring guides PLC Q1
  • Using student work samples to calibrate instructional and grading practices
  • Aligning teaching sequence to make common formative assessments possible
  • Collecting assessment data
  • Using standardized testing data to inform decisions around instructional practice
  • Disaggregating assessment data to determine patterns and trends
  • Responding to patterns and trends in data
  • Classroom-based progress monitoring
  • Best practices to ensure student understanding
  • Creating meaningful opportunities for intervention and enrichment
  • Response to Intervention 101
  • Multi-tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS)
  • other?
If you are interested in presenting at this mini-conference, please send Shenita Mayes an email by September 16, 2022. Please include information about what you would like to present. Your email is an expression of interest and it is not a final commitment to presenting at the conference.
